I'm done with movie theaters too. Cockroaches, questionable upholstery, bedbugs, etc.

There's no place like home.
When people can respect each other once again, it's a consideration. No more,

It depends on whether I want to see it right now or later on.

I have a co-worker who takes every Tuesday afternoon off during the school year and twice a month she goes to the movies.
She says that it is the best time ever, its Senior day, and its during the school year, so its nice and quiet, and you can actually enjoy the movie. She either takes her mom and dad or goes alone......
I found that very interesting-her husband doesnt enjoy going so she said she has no problem going alone.
She said both The Barbie movie and the new Equalizer movie should be seen in the theatre for the best experience....

There's a theater about 2 miles from me, I woudn't go if you pay me. No shootings so far but car break in's.
But there is a theater about 5 miles away that seems to be pretty safe, let's face it, you can become victim of a crime going to the grocery store.
But I can't remember the last movie I saw. It has senior prices as well as an IMAX screen. I can use my senior discount to see a movie on an IMAX screen at the same price as the regular screen on a Friday night.
If I plan on going it's usually Sunday early.
Now that I'm on a tight budget it's become a luxury. I wanted to see the most recent Mission Impossible but finally decided to buy groceries instead, LOL.
I would love to see Equalizer on the IMAX
I'm guessing Taylor Swift gave theaters a boost with her concert film

There's been so many mass shootings, drive-by shootings, etc.in our area that I'm a little apprehensive about being in a public place. I really prefer to see movies in a theater but I don't want to get killed doing it.
Opinions, please.
@GoneButNotForgotten ... I'm kind of feeling the same way as you. Last movie l saw in a theater was "Mama Mia". I miss going to the movies! Now l don't have anyone to go with...but don't know if I would even go...
I live close to the area where the people were killed at the Buffalo NY Tops supermarket. That was horrible. 😥 So many innocent people killed as well as in all the mass shootings. It's a scary time that's for sure!
Do you happen to live in Texas where there were several mass shootings?

@beach-mom wrote:@GoneButNotForgotten - It is a scary world out there. We still go to our local theater, but not as much as we used to. We do try to select a smaller theater section, and not one of the larger ones.
The last movie DH and I saw, during the summer on a Friday night, was a special showing of American Graffiti. We were at a larger theater, not that near us, and it was our first time there. About 3/4 of the way through the movie, the screen suddenly went black, and we were told to proceed to the nearest exit, then walk across the parking lot to the other side.
DH and I went out the exit by the screen. I was frightened. You probably know what I was thinking. None of us knew what was going on. People were cooperating, letting other rows out. DH turned to grab his popcorn and drink, and I told him to leave them. I did take my bag.
When we got outside, theater employees directed everyone far from the theater. We were halfway there and I turned to see an employee run back in. I relaxed a little, thinking if it had been a very dangerous situation she wouldn't have gone back in.
We waited with others for a while, then decided to go to our car and leave. People were coming in for later movies, not knowing what was going on. As we were leaving we heard sirens, and the police and fire trucks came in.
I called Monday. They gave everybody tickets to another movie. It turns out it was an electrical situation in the snack bar area.
One thing that helps is the selection of movies. I won't go to any futuristic, scary/horror, or "Avenger-type" movies. We saw Oppenheimer and enjoyed that. I did see Barbie and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 with DD.
@beach-mom ... That would have scared me to death...especially because of all the mass shootings!! Why couldn't they just tell everyone the reason you all had to leave??? People could have had a heart attack or something because of everything that's happened. Not a good decision at all not to give everyone the reason why! Geez...

@Sooner The AMC I go to has a restaurant inside. You can get hot dogs, hamburger & fries, fish & chips, etc & also salads.
@Mz iMac ... Oooh my!! It must smell so good in your theater! I'll take a burger 🍔 please!
