Midnight Eastern: "'Til We Meet Again" George Brent, Merle Oberon, Pat O'Brien, Frank McHugh
Calling all romantics! Very affecting, poignant tale of a gravely ill (yet seemingly healthy) woman and a convicted man meeting and falling in love on ship board.
Merle is stunning as usual, and is impetuous and heart-rending in her portrayal. Someone mentioned on the TCM site that she wore her own legendary personal collection of one-of-a-kind jewels in this. She often did that in her films.
George Brent is a complex character who evolves markedly as he succumbs to the enchantment of the couple's growing regard for each other.
There is wonderful support from the excellent Warner's supporting cast, including Pat O'Brien and hilarious, puckish Frank McHugh. But you'll be left with the haunting memory of that impossible, exalted love affair...
Other George Brent classics shown today are the much more often-seen essentials, "The Great Lie" with Bette Davis (6:00 p.m. Eastern); "Dark Victory", also with Bette (8:00 p.m. Eastern); and "The Rains Came" with Myrna Loy (10:00 p.m. Eastern).

Although he had a small role in it, one of my favorite movies is Baby Face, a Barbara Stanwyck classic. Have never seen Dark Victory and am looking forward to watching.

The plot sounds familiar. Is this movie of remake of One Way Passage with William Powell and Kay Frances?

Romantic checking in!!
I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say it again — We are so happy we got TCM. I love these movies and seeing these actors and actresses only heard about but never seen their work.
Im glad DH and I are retired. Don’t have much time for anything else 🙀🙀 @Oznell

Don't forget "My Reputation" with Barbara Stanwyck and George Brent. This is a little gem! As well as "Honeymoon For Three" with George Brent and Ann Sheridan. Super movies all day and evening! My dvr is set!

@drizzellla, you are absolutely right, it is a remake of the William Powell-Kay Francis film. That's supposed to be great also (I adore William Powell.)
Good call, @TexasMom1, on "My Reputation". I esp. love the first part of the movie with all the romantic snow and ski scenes... It's an interesting, sort of "departure" part for Stanwyck, to play a mother whose behavior is being constricted by the expectations of those around her...

@kaydee50, I didn't even realize George Brent was in "Baby Face" with Stanwyck-- neat!
@OKPrincess, you were made for "George Brent Day"!

From "The Great Lie" (6:00 p.m. Eastern,) another fab George Brent outing today, watch the great Bette Davis. Here is one of her many confrontations with concert pianist Mary Astor, who is cheekily making herself at home in Bette's country house and playing the piano.
Bette doesn't need to say much-- it's all in her eyes and her body language!

I just watched Honeymoon for Three. And I accidentally dozed off. BOY - was I lost. I have seen that movie before. And had no idea what was going on. That is why I wanted to watch it again.
I read the synopsis to get a clue. Wish it was on Watch TCM on Demand.
