Noon Eastern-- "The Barretts of Wimpole Street", Jennifer Jones, Bill Travers, Sir John Gielgud, Virginia McKenna
A historical love story with another very apt Jennifer Jones role. This time she is a perfect fit as the enormously sympathetic, real life English poet, Elizabeth Barrett. She's part of a large household of lively unmarried adult siblings, ruled with tyrannical fervor by their cracked father (Gielgud), yet Elizabeth's talent flourishes. Frail and often ill, she has largely withdrawn from society, but finds a kindred spirit in impetuous fellow poet Robert Browning, (hunky Bill Travers) whose work she devours.
The rapport of the two poets only grows, and surpasses the obstacles thrown up by their very eccentric circumstances...

"The first fine careless rapture......", quotes Elizabeth Barrett from the poet Browning.
Wow, I didn't know that famous phrase was from Browning...
"Flush" is so cute. Thank goodness the father's terrible threat against Flush is not carried out...
