This leads off a fascinating "female crime double feature" for mid-day Wednesday:

10:30 a.m. Eastern--  "Stronger Than Desire"   Walter Pidgeon, Virginia Bruce, Ann Dvorak, Lee Bowman

Lawyer Walter Pidgeon's distraught wife (Virginia Bruce) has been trying to retrieve love letters from a romantic interest (Lee Bowman),  and a physical struggle ensues.

Virginia Bruce ends up killing her blackmailer, but Ann Dvorak is blamed.  Beset by guilt, Virginia gets her husband to undertake Ann's defense.

In the aftermath of swirling events, another woman (Ann Dvorak) is unjustly fingered for a crime, and is defended by Pidgeon.

Haven't seen this, but:  1)  I love Walter Pidgeon.  2). Ann Dvorak is one of the really interesting undersung actresses of the classic age of films.  Her performances are "must see".

Noon Eastern:  "This Woman is Dangerous"  Joan Crawford, Dennis Morgan, Richard Webb, David Brian

Always fun to watch.  Joan has the juicy role of a sophisticated crime "queenpin" who because of a medical emergency, must submit to eye surgery and hospitalization.  Of course her doctor is hunky and romantically available Dennis Morgan, which sets up quite a conflict with her chosen profession of career larceny...
