Re: "NIGHTMARE ALLEY" TYRONE POWER, COLLEEN GRAY SUNDAY 10:00 A.M. EASTERN TCM

[ Edited ]

@NAES1,  what is the TLHS box?  I'm going to go look now, but don't have my tea in me yet.  If I don't find it before dashing off to church, I'll check in with you again...

Edited to add--  Oh, I found it-- "The Long Hot Summer",  ha.  Should have known that.  It sounds like there must have been a re-release of it for some reason, years after it was first made.  They still do that with "Gone With the Wind, I think, and probably some others...

I had not seen “Nightmare Alley” before.  Terrific movie with wonderful performances. I loved the Helen Walker part.  Tyrone Power was superb.

All the variants of emotion.  Wow!

I told my husband that I would have ended movie when he says the Geek was a part he was made for so, it was interesting in Eddie’s closing remarks that he said that was where the book ended!

Yeah, you have a truer literary sense of how it should have gone than the filmmakers, @trenet!  They caved to what they thought popular sentiment would want.

The book was unrelentingly bleak.

Good flick! Great performances. I now want to read the book.
