Re: "Mourning Becomes Electra" Roz Russell, Kirk Douglas TCM 4:00 p.m. Eastern

OK, I watched, as best I could between dinner and "stuff".

I really liked Michael Redgrave. Thought he did an excellent job. BUT I missed Raymond Massey completely. I thought I caught a glimpse of him, in his funeral scene? But must of missed him alive.

And Rosalind Russell WOW - she really pulled it off. She was the Evil Sister.

I was impressed with the entire cast. RKO did a good job of casting that movie.

@drizzellla, poor Raymond Massey got murdered by his wife, pretty early on in the movie.  It came right after an intense conversation between them about their marriage, their hopes and disappointments in each other.  Whew.

I keep thinking, the whole thing was so deep, elemental and intense, it's not only reminiscent of Greek tragedy, but Shakespeare and the Bible too.  Not too shabby literary company for O'Neill!

Got to say that was quite a movie. Alot of unhappy people making a mess of other people's lives.

I think I did briefly see Raymond Massey, I did walk in the room and see a guy in a beard and wondered who it was. But got distracted.

Too bad I missed bits and pieces but I saw plenty. The first scene I saw was Rosalind Russell sitting in a carriage outside a house. And you learn that it turns out to be her MOTHER kissing some guy. And you later learn it was Rosalind Russell's "guy".

And as you well know things go downhill from there.
