Re: "IRVING THALBERG-- PRINCE OF HOLLYWOOD" THURSDAY 1:00 A.M. EASTERN TCM

@Johnnyeager stated - The "Goodbye Mr. Chips" credit devoted to Thalberg.  The first signature is James Hilton's, the author of the book.

@Johnnyeager I am glad you made note of that fact. Too often the author does not like how their book was changed for a movie. I know his book was changed for this movie. Yet he still wanted to sign his name and it was first.

Can't help but think James Hilton saw a preview of the movie.

Unfortunately I didn't see this in time but I'll have to look out for it some other time. I'll bet it was interesting. You have to wonder if things would have been much better for stars at MGM such as Judy Garland if Thalberg had lived.

I checked and you can watch the documentary on Watch TCM. All you have to do is go to the TCM website. And click on Watch Now on the top left.

Once again I want to thank you, @Oznell  for mentioning the Irving Thalberg documentary.

In the beginning it stated that the documentary was produced by TCM . It was shown in 2005. I do not know how often it was shown but I do not remember seeing or hearing about it before. Made me wonder what other gems are in the TCM vault.

@Oznell - I watched it today and enjoyed it very much.  He was so talented and ahead of his time.  I didn't know he was responsible for so many famous pictures and he was a Brooklyn boy!!   In today's world, modern medicine would have helped him live longer.  Very sad.

Thanks again for the alert!

Oh, glad you liked it, @twinsister !   He was so interesting.  It does seem that a lot of his drive and striving for excellence was tied to his knowledge that his time was running out....    I've read that Norma Shearer never got over his loss.
