Midnight Eastern--  "Gentleman's Agreement"  Gregory Peck, John Garfield, Celeste Holm, Dorothy McGuire

Sorry for the short notice, gang.  Ground-breaking (for the time) expose of post-war anti-Semitism.  Gregory Peck is a Christian journalist who poses as a Jew in order to get the goods on hush-hush issues like hotel industry and country club exclusions of Jews.  Peck is shocked to be turning over rocks and finding "soft" bigotry even in the attitudes of his socially-aspiring girlfriend, who seems 'queasy' with his new identity.

John Garfield gives his usual socko performance, this time as a Jewish returning serviceman, impatient and disgusted with the status quo.  Celeste Holm is fabulous as a savvy, sympathetic Forties "career gal",  who you end up wishing Peck was discerning enough to buddy up with, instead of the rather insipid McGuire!

Well worth staying up for, or at least DVR'ing if you don't have your own copy.
