"Dark Passage" Lauren Bacall, Bogie TCM 1:45 p.m. Eastern Today Monday

It's funny, the whole morning preceding "Dark Passage",  the movie line-up is all about marriage, marriage, marriage.  Is that TCM's prescient nod to the royal engagement announcement scheduled for today?

"Dark Passage", in which San Francisco artist Lauren Bacall takes in and hides Humphrey Bogart after he jail-breaks for a murder he didn't commit, is so enjoyable. I could move right in to Bacall's sleek apartment, complete with Forties' art moderne furniture and chic spiral staircase.  As usual, Bacall and Bogie have chemistry to burn.  The character cast is sterling, including long-suffering Bruce Babbitt and acid-tongued Agnes Moorehead...

It's one of those film noirs you can watch over and over, taking in different things every time...

@Oznell One of my all-time favorite movies. You're so right, I know the film so well I could recite the lines and move around my room performing the scenes, but it never lets me down for being entertaining. I could hide out in that swanky apartment until the end of time.  Agnes Moorehead is knock my socks off great as the two-faced, backstabbing villainess.

Oh, yeah, this is a good one. Her living room was sooooo like my parents'. The radio or record player WAS my parents'. And I believe this is the movie where I saw her cigarette lighter on the coffee table. Yep, I was right at home.

I would like to record To Have and Have Not. ('you know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and........blow.') Yes, that one Smiley Happy  Hoping to see it soon.
