Not my favorite movie but the one that was so powerful as to hit me the hardest:  "City of Angels"

Oddly I just re-watched this flick last month.  I liked it more than I thought I would.

@chickenbutt  Thanks.  We don't get HBO, but maybe it's the On Demand.

I hope it is!  If you don't have Amazon Prime, and cannot find it elsewhere, you can always stream it from Amazon for a few bucks.  Smiley Happy

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, hands down.

Also, as some others have said:  Midnight Express, Dances with Wolves, Breakfast at Tiffanys and The Color Purple.

It's an oldie (1983) but I've never forgotten "Testament" which is about nuclear warfare. Here is the Amazon link with reviews.

There are several, not in any specific order:

The Green Mile

Sophie's Choice

Schindler's List

The Green Mile! I was crying so hard and my husband kept reminding me that it was a movie!

I was too. The scene with the electric chair horrified me & has really stuck with me.  I wouldn't let my kids watch it when they were younger because of that scene.

That was a beautiful movie, I watch it whenever I see that it's on. I love the message that true love transcends time.
