@INDIANA BONES Excellent choice. I think that movie was on HBO. One of the most poignant scenes in that movie is when the plane arrives and the pilot makes an announcement to the passengers that the plane is carrying the remains of a fallen soldier. He then requests that the passengers allow the soldier {Kevin Bacon's character} who is accompanying the body to exit first.

Amen Sista!
I think our entire home used aa few boxes of tissue during this movie. I donot' think any of us could move from our seats the enrie movie. As I said before, I think every American that enjoys their Freedom should watch this movie to honor those men and women.

In addition to the aforementioned Sophie's Choice, The Passion of the Christ, and Steel Magnolias, I would add:
Pay it Forward
Angel Heart
American History X (nor for the faint of heart)
The Dollmaker (made-for-t.v. movie starring Jane Fonda)

Being anti death penalty - despite my first husband being murdered in a robbery of his business - I found The Green Mile very powerful.

I agree it is such a powerfull movie. I walked out furious at what we had done to the native americans. Kevin Costner poured his heart into that movie.

The movie that I considered most powerful to me was
"Not Without My Daughter" with Sally Field.

That was a great movie.
I don't know about most powerful, but I've always liked American Beauty.
