Re: keep an eye out for Project Runway marathons on Bravo

Kinda funny seeing Tim driving around in a Saturn knowing they no longer make them.  I do see one or two at church, but then again I'm driving a 21 year old car too.  There's also a business in town that has a logo almost exactly the same as the Saturn logo including the red background.  I'm thinking they are no longer with us either though.  I think the building is up for sale.

Back on PR, being someone who sews, I so much wish they would show more of the design/construction process instead of the drama, but I'm sure that won't happen.  I would love to get a tutorial from Amanda Valentine on drafting well-fitted pants.  She lives about 2 hours away from me.

@LoriLori   I don't like that people, such as Jeffrey, who have their own line/business are allowed to compete.  It is designers like Laura, who never had money to begin a line, raising six children, now alone since her husband passed, loss of his income, who need to compete so that they might have the money to begin their own line.

If I were rich, I would have given Laura the money needed to get her going, loved her fashion designs, all impeccably made.  She didn't just take up archery, which by the way she was extremely good at, she wrote two books, among other endeavors, even showing at QVC, though I missed that.

I never understood why designers who had their own business were alloed into the competition, and remember being very surprised at learning that.  I don't think that was so in the first season, but can't remember for certain.

I don't know what Laura Bennett you're talking about.  Laura Bennett was born into money, married into money, she and her husband (especially her late husband) made even more piles of money from his successful architecture firm and then she inherited even more money.

Her husband was a renowned architect in NYC.  That apartment, OMG.

Laura Bennett who never trained as a designer.  Who was a home sewer who mostly did a very good job on PR, but one-note and when she did the Paris dress, because she's not a trained designer, she didn't recognize that it has been done before by one of the Paris couture houses.

The woman who had six kids and said she does not own a pair of jeans and would never wear jeans.  Who looks down on every mom who does.  Whose kids were probably raised by nannies, since she had no trouble leaving them for at least six weeks to do PR.

Such a snob!  (Her mother was snobby too.)

No, she didn't make it as a designer.  But not for lack of money.   She was not likeable on QVC nor were her clothes interesting.  So yes, then she wrote a book, took up archery, was widowed and inherited a huge estate in PA that she's renovating.

This is a woman completely out of touch with everyday women and she let us know it constantly.  Someone like Jeffrey who scrabbled his way up through major problems and created a successful line, she did not credit that at all...

Most designers who have competed on PR have their own business or a designing job.

Michael Costello, who was ironically bullied, had already dressed stars on the Red Carpet.  So had Ramy Kashou.  So had some others.  I tend to focus on the first five seasons because they're so much better.

Someone (I can picture her but can't think of her name, she was auf'd early) designed Serena Williams's line.  Jillian in Season 4 worked for I think Ralph Lauren.  Most of them had been designing in modest ways.

And there have always been recent grads and home sewers and they don't do as well.  And then there was Anya who was none of the above and it showed.

I want designers with experience.  I want the highest quality of talent.  I don't mind at all Laura being cast, she didn't bring anything new but she made some interesting and lovely stuff.  She was just a snob and a sore loser but her garments were better than most.

I  enjoy the mix of already moderately successful people of which there have been many, recent grads and talented home sewers who unlike spitting Elissa and Laura Bennett also have a gift for designing.

I want to see designs coming from out of the box, impeccably tailored, but I don't want to see stuff like Laura's which is either boring or derivative yet impeccably sewn and tailored.

@LoriLori   I am aware of the designer's past before Project runway, have been watching from the beginning.  Yes, I want designers also, but not every designer has the money to begin a line, thus they go to Project Runway.  My objection is that I only want the designers who don't actually have the money to begin their line/store.

Kristian, for example, didn't have his line, though he was fantastic and had worked with some of the best, so now look at him, lol, looking forward to him in the new season.

@LoriLori   There is a place for a designer of fashion not for the every day woman.  Loved Laura, hated Jeffrey, so moving on to the new season.

@mousiegirl

I can't relate to hating anyone on a reality show.

The point of my post was, you said this about Laura:

"It is designers like Laura, who never had money to begin a line, raising six children, now alone since her husband passed, loss of his income, who need to compete so that they might have the money to begin their own line.

If I were rich, I would have given Laura the money needed to get her going, loved her fashion designs, all impeccably made.'

The point of my post was to correct your portrayal of Laura.  You're the one who painted her as poor and you said "If I were rich, I would have given Laura the money..."    All I'm doing is correcting you for you and anyone else who reads  your post:

She was born into wealth, she married into wealth, her husband created a lot more wealth, sadly he died and she inherited even more wealth.

So, do you think Christian will get the Christian Siriano save?  I think the Tim gunn save happened after they left Bravo.

I did like when they started letting him sit in on the runway shows and sometimes provide insight.  I also liked that they started looking more closely at the garments after the runway show.

I hope so.  Almost started a thread already.  Want everyone to see Brandon Maxwell's two Oscar gowns.  Soooooo different.  So surprising.  And his collection at last month's NYFW.  Rarely does one designer get best dressed/worst dressed at the same event.

Korto's seatbelt coat!  I'm not watching all of it but so glad I just saw that.  So beautiful.
