I have a question for anyone who actually works in an ED department.  I work in a hospital (medical records) but not the ED department.

I was watching Chicago Med.  I watched the first episode of the new season..

(I do want to say I have been on the verge of dropping watching in future)

They showed that they are adding a new doctor to the ED department and she will be a co-department head.  So now 2 department heads ?

To me that is just crazy.  Just something for the show to creat extra drama/conflct.

I guess my question...does this really happen?? I am just curious.

Not sure if it is true or not, but I can tell she is going to be very annoying this season, hired just to cause tension for sure!

I think as the other poster said it is for the drama and annoyance factor.  The last new doctor brought in was over the top in not following rules and didn't last long so time for a new problem.

My mom was a head nurse of a busy ER department in the Bay Area, don't think there was an equal position.  Not sure how the docs came into play either in terms of the power situation within the department.

I'm with you, I'm on the verge of not watching the show and have been for quite a while.  Most of my interest is in Dr Charles and Sharon Goodwin and any cross over with Chicago Fire.

Although getting close to not watching Fire either.

I'm just disappointed that we didn't get a proper goodbye for Crockett.   Did he announce he was moving last season?  I don't remember knowing he was moving on until during the hiatus, but I do tend to forget stuff over the break.

@Icegoddess

I quickly read something yesterday, it alluded that he was let go but I'd research further as not 100% sure.

@Icegoddess He was very upset that the father of the little boy who died committed suicide as a result of his own grief.

As to Dr. Wilcox, the newbie, I already can't stand her.

But I won't stop watching. Not interested in Fire or PD.

Remember when Steven Weber first started on there his character was just awful but look how he has come full circle,  Dr Abrams is the totally obnoxious one !!!

So, are we supposed to be warming up a little to the new female doc. She was a bit better last night. Wonder what happened to the woman that Dr Archer was seeing last season ?

Hubby worked entire career in hospital. He only had one person in charge at a time. It’s funny to watch this with him….points out all the inaccuracies 😝
