@kittyloo, superfan, any chance you can edit the OP so that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is spelled correctly? Whatever anyone thinks of the movie, the song deserves that rather than "Rapshosody."

Freddie Mercury was a great performer, and was a great talent. He was one of the greatest singers of all times.
His performance at Live Aid was the hit of the show. Everyone expected the reunion of Led Zeppelin to be the key moment of Live Aid but Freddie Mercury's performance was an act that Zeppelin could not out do.
He was Queen, and the band survives today due to his vision, his songs, and for still keeping the act going with Alan Lambert.
He should be remembered for talent and what he did for music.

Dont know if you all have heard this,, i guess Freddie wrote bohemian rhapsody about himself as a coming out song..I believe it and i can understand most of the lyrics now that i know this..He had quite the battle going on inside him.
Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, released on October 31, 1975, has consistently featured at the top of ‘all-time greatest’ song lists, and sold more than 2.5 million records in the UK alone – twice reaching No1.
But Queen’s flamboyant frontman and songwriter Freddie Mercury steadfastly refused to explain his lyrics to the song. His only utterance was that it was ‘about relationships’. His bandmates, too, have remained tight-lipped.
But now, on the eve of its 40th anniversary, Mercury’s biographer Lesley-Ann Jones has revealed its hidden message – a confession by Freddie that he was gay.
Lyricist Sir Tim Rice knew Freddie well and he agrees with her explanation. ‘It’s fairly obvious to me this was Freddie’s coming-out song,’ said Sir Tim. ‘I’ve spoken to Roger Taylor [the band’s drummer] about it. There is a very clear message in it. This is Freddie admitting that he is gay.
‘In the line “Mama, I just killed a man” he’s killed the old Freddie, his former image,’ says Sir Tim.
‘With “Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he’s dead” he’s dead, the straight person he was originally. He’s destroyed the man he was trying to be, and now this is him, trying to live with the new Freddie.
‘“I see a little silhouetto of a man” – that’s him, still being haunted by what he’s done, and what he is.
More at link.
Geez, and I just thought it was lyrics from operas.

Freddie was the PERSONALITY of Queen. Those were NOT all his songs. The rest of the band wrote many of the songs in those 15 studio albums, many of which became big time hits. They had every bit the genius that Freddie had and Queen was every bit their vision as his. Without them, Freddie would not have achieved what he was able to do in the way he did it. I really get tired of those who refuse to give the classically trained members of that band credit for everything the band was and is. It was a group effort, and it was THEIR decision to bring Adam Lambert into it. He is every bit the performer Freddie was with in my opinion even greater range than Freddie. Roger and Brian have said Freddie would have been thrilled to hear Adam Lambert take the stage with them. The only other person I've ever heard them say could match Freddie note for note was George Michael, and that was when he did the song Somebody to Love at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS. The band members are still writing music and they are still consummate musicians, even in their 70's. They are a big part of my musical past and my present, and i am so happy that new generations are being introduced to their wonderful lyrics and melodies.

Saw it today and I loved it. The concert scene at Wembley moved me to tears. The music was fantastic, the actors were fantastic and the inaccuracies did not matter squat to my experience.

Saw the movie Friday and love it
WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU
the Live Aid concert scene was unbelievable - thought parts were staged until I watched this clip of the real concert - it is a long clip - but watch Radio Ga Ga if you can - the audience just doing Freddy's bidding...
@kittyloo I hope you don't mind I posted the clip

Won't see the movie as previously posted but in case there's anyone who doesn't know this (and there probably isn't anyone who doesn't know this):
Lady Gaga took her stage name from the song Radio Ga Ga

FYI, the Reelz TV channel is running 2 specials on Queen and Freddie Mercury now, you can check their schedule on their website. Reelz documentaries are excellent.

I haven't seen it yet, and now I am so sorry to learn that the facts have been skewed.
Honestly, I don't know how anybody could not know Freddie was gay, or bisexual. Which never made any differenct to me, I loved and continue to love him and Queen.

Apparently, Brian May and Roger Taylor were on set quite a bit to help with the scenes. The cast actually played their own instruments, which is incredibly impressive. I saw it again yesterday and was just as moved as I was the first time. I came home and immediately pre-ordered the dvd.
