I have not watched the last Younger show (I have it on DVR) but I am dying of curiosity and do not mind knowing this beforehand - what was the reason Charles' ex-wife said she must talk to him? Is she pregnant? Please, I will be watching this episode tomorrow but would love to know what this was all about.

The ex wasn't in this week's show, unless I missed (or forgot) something.

That was from a previous episode and I'm not sure we even saw what she said to Charles. She made it clear in a meeting with Liza that she knows that Charles is seeing Liza, so maybe that.

I would be really angry with the writers if she were pregnant, because Charles has never shown interest in her or said they were trying to work things out, ONLY that she'd moved back in for the kids. Any other relationship was entirely one-sided and all in her head. It would be really lazy of them to make her pregnant without ever giving an indication that he was interested in her and would cheapen Charles as a character if he did take advantage of her under those circumstances. Charles seems like a truly decent man of good character and a decent man would not have sex with an ex-wife who was in love with him and desperately (really desperately) trying to get back together with him when he had no intention of following through with that.

@lovesallanimals, no she's not pregnant. She knows that Charles likes Liza, she used it as leverage to get out of the book deal with Charles and take it to another publisher.

Alison Wonderland: thank you and I totally agree with your assessment. So it looks like what she had to talk to him about was that she knows about him and Liza. It would make no sense if she was pregnant. You described Charles' character perfectly.

I thought it was that she blackmailed him about giving him a divorce since knows about Liza, and she was writing a sequel that she would take to another publisher, not the book she has now, but basically she will no longer give her book biz to Charles.

Anyway, Pauline mentions Kate (Marriage Vacation’s heroine) getting revenge, and although Liza tries her best to let Pauline know things didn’t happen how she thinks they did, it is futile; Liza knows she’s in trouble. At their next public library steps meeting, Liza immediately tells Charles about his ex, but Charles already knows. Pauline is willing to make a trade: She’ll keep quiet about their inappropriate boss-assistant relationship if Charles gives her back the option for the book sequel; she can get more money elsewhere. It’s a big blow to Millennial and Empirical (Kelsey’s gonna be pi ssed, you guys), but Charles is willing to take the hit if it means protecting what he has with Liza. He’s also willing to shave his beloved beard for her, too. Oh, the swooning, it hurts!!
