The young Abe as he begins to make his way in the world, starts his law practice, and meets Mary Todd.  Skillfully directed by John Ford, Henry Fonda gives a canny, subtle performance as the raw young prairie lawyer on his way to greatness.

 

Although "bio pics" are generally not my favorite genre, we can never have enough exposure to the brilliance of historical figures like Abraham Lincoln.  He has been so well-favored in the people who have portrayed him--  Raymond Massey, Henry Fonda, and Daniel Day-Lewis;  at different times, each has given us an indelible portrait of the man and President.

Thanks @Oznell for sharing...I watched last year and needed something to watch while relaxing today...this was a great movie and I think I am going to record this time!

Watching it now and it's excellent. Henry Fonda does a terrific job.
