Y & R - Nikki's illness

All right, it's finally revealed that Nikki has MS.

I am wondering why they are choosing to incorporate this in the story. It's not iminently fatal, so why an illness for her?

My mother had MS, and most people have symptoms between 20-40. My mother did, so the choice of MS makes me wonder.

For selfish reasons, I wish they had not chosen MS. My mother passed away from complications of it 3 years ago, so it makes me sad. Remember, people have different forms and severity as well.
