Re: 🌻🌻🌻Y&R July 2018 SPOILERS!🌻🌻🌻

You have to wonder what it's going to take for the powers that be to get out the broom and clean house... According to reports, the show has, in fact, lost thousands of viewers over the course of the last six or so months... This thread alone, which used to be bustling, has become more or less moribund and half of us are hanging on to watching the show by a shoe string, skipping days at a time and, like @trenet, spraining our fingers on the fast forward button... If there's any investment at all in keeping this show on the air, somebody in a position to do so needs to make some serious decisions and they need to make them soon...

The only day I record this program is Friday. Other than that, I read the thread here and save the frustration of actual viewing LOL.

Re: 🌻🌻🌻Y&R July 2018 SPOILERS!🌻🌻🌻

Summary for Thursday, July 5th from soaps.com:

Ashley shows up at Neil’s apartment following a worried email he sent her. He warns that there is a story about to break. They check his computer and see there is a story about JT disappearing when he was investigating Victor. Neil calls Victor and suggests he read the story. When he gets off the line, Ashley says the story is hard to dismiss. They both know Victor has done a lot of ‘questionable things’. Neil thinks they can manage this. Wet Nate comes down the stairs in a tiny towel. He puts some clothes on and then catches up with Ash before she takes off. Neil and Nate discuss the company being under attack. Nate’s not sure why Neil should stick around through the scandal, but Neil says he never cuts and runs. He remembers that he’d planned a family party to welcome Nate back.

Later, the family arrive, and Lily tells her dad that Cane is dealing with a lot because of Jack. She fills him in on Jack suing for answers about his paternity. Devon arrives with Shauna while Mattie grills Nate about med school. Hilary comes in late. Nate looks at her cooly and says they already met. Everyone gathers around Nate and asks him all about his career. He manages to change the topic, but Hilary changes it back. Things get uncomfortable, Hilary corners the doctor and asks him about her rash. He doubts she’s interested in his ‘rusty opinion’. They bicker. She complains about her swollen ankles. He says it's not normal so early in a pregnancy and she probably has fat ankles. The family suggests she have Nate on GC Buzz. Devon and Hilary step aside. She doesn’t like his cousin and thinks he’s just some guy from Boston with an attitude. When she gets a chance, she corners the doctor again and grills him about why he’s on sabbatical. He tells her to stay out of his business. Shauna interrupts to stick up for Hillary, who trashes the doctor’s bad bedside manner. Nate heads upstairs and Neil stares daggers at Hillary. He wants her to leave. She thinks that the doctor is a diva and demands to know what the secrets are all about. Neil explains that the love of Nate’s life died a year ago today. Hillary laughs uncomfortably, accusing everyone of letting her act like a jerk, and leaves with Devon trailing after her.

At the Abbott estate, Jack and Kyle talk about how Dina is doing. Jack wants her relaxed and focused so they can get proof that Phillip is his father. Kyle wonders if there might be a way to do this without getting Dina to testify. Jack knows it’s not ideal but doesn’t see much choice. He’s annoyed that Ashley isn’t there. She soon arrives, and Dina emerges, apparently in a good mood. They sit down, and Jack explains how they are going to play mock trial. Kyle plays a lawyer and questions his grandmother. She explains how her relationship with Phillip developed and how she loved him. They stop. Jack and his mother are moved. After Dina takes a break, she re-emerges in different clothes and a hat, disoriented and confused. She thinks that Ashley is ‘Sofia’ and worries the men are there to hurt her. Jack’s upset. He thanks her for trying to help, but he can’t put her through anymore. He’s dropping the lawsuit.

Summer finds Billy watching trashy horror movies at his place. She suggests they go out, but he has a meeting with clients. Summer assumes he’s lying and wants to come along to be his ‘good luck charm’. If he says no, she’ll follow him anyway. He agrees, as long as she remains a spectator.

Summer and Billy go to the gambling room at the Club. He sees his old rival Sinead is playing. Summer stands aside and watches while Billy plays Sinead. He goes all in. She gives a little smirk before going all in and throwing her housekeys in to the pot. Billy drops his keys to the yacht in next. He has four of a kind and she has a straight flush. She takes the pot.

HAPPY AND SAFE 4TH OF JULY TO ALL!  Thank you loveschocolate for providing the day ahead spoiler.  I watch all 4 soaps and love them all especially DOOL.  I cheer for them no matter how bad the sl's are and pray the hourglass does not run out on any of them.   Cause when that happens I fear the networks will be giving us more of someone else's VIEW or TALK and that ain't for me.  JMO......long live soaps Heart

Boy do I hear that... The last thing TV needs is more talk or game shows... Still, I can't watch something to supposedly entertain me when it just isn't doing the job... I'm trying to stick it out too and for the same reasons. I know none of the remaining shows will ever recapture their glory days, they've all fallen too far, but hope they're ablet to sustain enough interest (and bring in enough ad revenue, which is really what it's all about) to remain viable. For me, this one, the only one I'm used to watching regularly, has a ways to go...

Re: 🌻🌻🌻Y&R July 2018 SPOILERS!🌻🌻🌻

@stevieb Totally agree.  Soaps are still (for now....although subject to change....and seems to be changing) the one think watchers can say their honest feeling about....good/bad/ugh!

As far as I know none of us know the writers, producers, actors personally, so our criticism is by our observations.  Most of us have been soap viewers for many years (and as @stevieb (and other's) has said, watched many different soaps.

I can only speak for myself here.  I've watched enough over the years to know what I/me/myself likes and dislikes.

These story lines (especially on this show) has taken a major turn (and I think it stinks).  Obviously other's think the same as according to what I read viewers are leaving by the droves.  Too bad because I think it would be terrible to have the soaps disappear.  However, if viewership continues to fade, nothing will be able to save them.

Why wouldn't they disband a soap?  Think about the cost of a soap versus some stupid talk show here other's come on and hawk their latest movie or TV show.  We get to hear how wonderful they are and their new show is...(again, ugh)!

I do enjoy reading everyone's criticism of the writing, the actors and everything on each soap.  I'm probably going to take heat for this, but I think it's fun (especially in this politically correct atmosphere) to be able to dis some of these shows (i.e. the characters and yes, maybe even the actors, themselves).  They want us to love/like them.  They get paid lots of money for what they do.  Thus (in my opinion) it's to be expected some people aren't going to like their acting or the actors, even and especially the story writing........

Now back to Y&R.....I wish I'd have not tuned into my DVR....what a total waste of maybe 20-22 minutes.  Those were mostly spent fast forwarding through the show and commercials.

This show today was unbelievably boring.  It just seems to get worse (in my book).  Anyway, that's my two cents and I stand by it.

I'm trying to think of what I enjoyed....hummmm....thinking...thinking....just can't squeeze anything out.....

Re: 🌻🌻🌻Y&R July 2018 SPOILERS!🌻🌻🌻

I didn't turn off the tv quickly enough after the news at noon so I got a few quick glimpses......Ashley's outfit was one of the most hideous articles of clothing I have ever seen.

Neal's upscale luxury apartment is furnished like a cheap transient hotel.

No one has comments about the new guy ? He looks doable to me !

Re: 🌻🌻🌻Y&R July 2018 SPOILERS!🌻🌻🌻

Summary for Friday, July 6th from soaps.com:

At Jabot, Summer checks in with Billy, who is distraught over his ‘epic’ failure of losing the company yacht in a poker game. Summer wants to help. Billy says his only option is to win back Jaboat before anyone finds out.

At Crimson Lights, Phyllis invites Sharon to a surprise birthday party she’s planning for Billy…aboard Jaboat. Sharon’s not in a party mood due to the talk about JT possibly being alive. Phyllis sends out the invites. On the patio, Abby and Arturo make out until he reveals Victor’s messing with him again. Abby wants to adjourn to a luxury suite and charge it to her father’s account.

At Jabot, Summer receives the invitation to Billy’s party and warns Billy, who gets on the phone with Phyllis and tells her Summer spilled the beans about her party plans, knowing the yacht was undergoing repairs. Phyllis decides she’ll have the party at home.

At Newman Enterprises, Victor’s on the phone ranting that Scott Grainger is behind the latest libelous article. Nikki arrives and gets up to speed. She can’t believe Scott suggested JT was dead and Victor was responsible. Victor leaves her fretting. In Victor’s office, Ashley wants to discuss being under siege. Victor isn’t up for talking, but Ashley persists – this affects her too as she plays a prominent role in the company and they were once married. Victor’s stunned when she asks, “Did you do it?” He expects her loyalty. Ashley has to protect herself and her family and says she’s done. “I quit.”

At the Club, Abby tells Arturo she’s going to confront her father. He won’t allow her to go alone. Nikki appears and reveals Victor’s handling a major crisis at the office. Abby complains that he’s harassing Arturo and she’s going to confront him. Nikki sniffs that Victor hasn’t been harassing Arturo – she has. Abby and Nikki square off as Nikki explains she asked Arturo to stay away from her but he didn’t listen. Abby stands up to her, but Nikki is unremorseful and states, “No one messes with Nikki Newman,” before stalking off. Arturo convinces Abby to attend Billy’s birthday party.

Summer and Billy arrive at home to Phyllis bearing captain hats and serving pirate punch. Kyle arrives and updates them on Jack’s lawsuit. Summer plunks a hat on his head and pulls him aside. She asks where his date is, and Kyle reveals he dumped her. They tuck into the rum punch. Kyle notes he drank stronger than this trying to get over Summer.

Ashley arrives and silences the room by announcing she quit Newman. Billy fills Phyllis in on Scott’s article, then asks Ashley what’s next. Ash reveals she wants to come back to Jabot as COO. Abby and Arturo enter as Ashley says, “Goodbye Newman, hello Jabot!” Abby isn’t keen on her mother abandoning her. Summer notices Kyle’s morose. He snarks that he loves working where he knows he’ll never get ahead. Meanwhile, Ashley counsels Abby to stay at Newman and exploit Victor’s distrust of Victoria. Arturo agrees. Ashley joins Billy, who hedges about whether he wants her back at Jabot. Phyllis jumps in to confront Ashley about actually wanting to run things. Ash insists she’ll yield to his leadership since he’s doing a great job, but is clearly frustrated. As Kyle speaks to Ashley, Billy lets her know he doesn’t need a watchdog, and Kyle presses to be considered as COO.

Summer directs everyone’s attention back to the party, then follows Kyle onto the terrace. He opens up about not knowing where he belongs – he might dig up Phillip Chancellor himself. Inside, Billy’s received texts from Jack and Traci urging him to hire Ashley, who promises an embarrassing board vote if he doesn’t listen. Billy and Phyllis whisper about getting Kyle on board, but Summer reveals he left. Later, Billy gets a text from Lauren saying she’ll also support Ashley. Defeated, he takes Ashley aside and welcomes her back as COO. They embrace, but Billy has a strange expression.

Nikki arrives at Sharon’s place and unloads – she’s worried Victor could be charged with a murder she committed. They speculate about whether JT could possibly be alive. Nikki opens up about going after Arturo – it seems silly now. Sharon assures her they’ve all been under stress. Talk turns to Christian’s custody. Nikki just wants one normal night – it’s a struggle not to confess to Victor, and worries JT’s dragging her down to his level. Sharon gives her a pep talk. They hear a noise outside and peer out the window. A hooded figure turns around – it’s JT! The women scream hysterically.

In the cemetery, Kyle digs up Phillip Chancellor’s grave.

A Look Ahead to Monday, July 9th:

Nikki says to Sharon, "Oh my God! He is still alive!"
