Saw a show with Samuel Jackson yesterday and it was really good. Also saw a new one with Woody Harrelson. There are some really great actors out there that we don't hear a lot about. There should be more awards for people/actors that are so plentiful but to me, just don't get recognized unless they seem to get these prime characters.
If you look them up and see all the works they've done, it's amazing. Tommy Lee Jones is another one. Multi-talented people who can do so many different roles. I'm fascinated.

@sktchy, I didn't know that about Samuel Jackson, but I'm speaking only about these people as actors.

I stopped paying attention to awards a long time ago. They tend to nominate the same people year afer year.
Woody Harrelson is a very versatile actor. He works in a lot of independent films. Those producers don't run around Hollywood schmoozing Academy members for nominations and votes (not an inexpensive process because schmoozing cost $$$). Independent films also don't have multi-million dollar advertising budgets (which pays for ad time TV on prime time shows and major sports broadcasts). Those films heavily rely on word of mouth and critics for audiences.
Harrelson's range allows him to play wide ranging roles from goofy Woody on Cheers, to porn magazine publisher Larry Flint, to a psychotic villain in Natural Born Killers, aging detective on True Detective. My favorite role was that of the alcoholic husband/father in The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio with Julienne Moore. That movie is outstanding!

I've always liked Woody Harrelson, enjoyed his character on Will and Grace

I agree, both are very good actors...There are so many overlooked actors who haven't received the recognition that they deserve....Ed Norton also comes to mind.
