@4kitties,
Thank you for this. I wouldn't have known otherwise.
Gymnastics has changed so much
just like ice skating.
I still love watching both of them but it makes me miss the more lyrical, balletic movements of both these sports that were years ago.
It is all about the fantastic spins and jumps and how many times you can turn thru the air. I notice this especially in the floor ex routines. It seems it is dance moves, pause, get ready for the fantastic jump, repeat.
I just remember it as being all one flowing beautiful and incredible routine, and yes amazing spins included.
Simone is incredible and I am in awe at what she is able to do with such apparent eaze and grace. Another wonderful thing is how she and others, coaches included have changed hopefully many teams to have joy and fun and no abuse.
I was on a gymnastic team so I have followed gymastics for years.
I can still love so much of these sports and appreciate Nathan Chen, Yuzuru Hanyu, Simone, Gabby, it is just very different. What can make someone beautiful to watch is if they can put all these things together-the fluid dance, the athletics, tech difficulties and make it all look like one beautiful thing to behold.
