As a kid coming home from school, I remember watching the Match Game w/Gene Rayburn as host. He was kind of odd looking and he held that very long thin microphone but it seemed so modern at the time. His panel of 6 always seemed to have fun - Charles Nelson Reilly was on a lot, so was Betty White, and then there was Jack Klugman's wife or xwife, Brett something. Richard Dawson was on quite a bit too.
Now I would say Alex Trebek. He speaks so well, and clearly, w/no trace of any accent. He's quick and is at ease w/the contestants.
The older host on What's My Line was such a gentleman. HIs name was John Daley. I had to google him because I could picture him, but not remember his name. Seems like the game show hosts of old didn't make it all about themselves like they do today. Today so many are so obnoxious and loud and think they are so funny they are unwatchable. When Michael Strahan got hired as a game show host he was just the worst. Not that he was obnoxious, but he doesn't have a clear speaking voice. How he ever made it in the TV media is beyond me.

I liked that show, too, and I can't remember the name of the host, either.
Another show I liked was "Password" and I can't remember who the host was.
Wasn't Betty White's husband a game show host? Think his name was Allen Ludden or something like that....
