I appreciate that they take the time to do extra scenery shots since it's filmed in such a beautiful locale. Started watching the new season last night and I think the scenery was the best part!

It's northern California. The town is fictional, but I'm not sure if that's Mount Shasta they show in the background.  I watched the first two episodes and I'm having trouble staying interested.  Very disappointing. I watch little tv, so when this came up as a suggestion on Netflix I was happy to see it.

You're right, the scenery is beautiful but the whole program is too sappy and soap operaish for me.  I barely made it through the first season and that was enough of that.

I believe I looked this up on a California map when I was reading the actual series - it's supposed to be what is called the "Trinity Alps" - RTE 299 which runs east to west and connects I-5 to the CA Coast.

It takes place in Northern California, farther north than San Francisco.
