Walking Dead Renewed For Season 10

The Walking Dead will live on for a least another year.

A week before The Walking Dead is set to return to the small screen for the second half of its ninth season, AMC said today it’s bringing the series based on Robert Kirkman’s comics back for Season 10.

With an expanding franchise of Rick Grimes movies, crossovers with spinoff Fear Tthe Walking Dead and more, the least surprising renewal in television was made official online this afternoon.

The Whisperers, who wear the skin of walkers in order to blend in with the herds, made their first appearance in the Season 9 mid-season finale.

It ended with Daryl, Eugene and Aaron surrounded by the group after an ambush in which fan favorite Jesus (Tom Payne) was stabbed to death.

The second half of the season is expected to build on their arrival.

The Whisperers speak in whispers — hence the name — as the walkers do not react to the sound.

They have mastered the ability to steer massive herds of walkers, which they use to devastating affect on other survivor camps and settlements.

Having gone through the loss of lead actors Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan in the first part of season nine, the series has leaped a few years into the future in the show's timeline.

Angela Kang, who was a writer on the series, took over as the showrunner starting with season nine.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 10.
