For those of us old enough to remember actor Vic Morrow, he was accidentally killed on this date in 1982, along with two child actors, when a helicopter fell on them and decapitated him during the making of Twilight Zone -The Movie.  

Actor Jennifer Jason Leigh is his daughter.

@AuntG. Yes. The film's director, Jon Landis, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and acquitted after a months-long trial. The father of one of the children (their parents were on set) heard Landis directing the helicopter to fly lower.

Hard to believe this happened almost 40 yrs ago.

Remember him well from watching "Combat" when I was a kid. Terrible way to go.

What a horrible death, I remember it well.  I always enjoyed Morrow in the TV series, Combat.  I can't believe how long ago this happened.  Very sad.

@catter70 That's where I got my email address-from that show. He'd say it everytime he picked up his walkie talkie. If you know it, just kind of hint at it, but don't say it here, ok? hahaha
