@Love my grandkids I also don't mind including social issues in a storyline.   But one viewer's "factual, sensible way" can often be viewed as another's "with politics tossed in". It seems to be the universal division nowadays.

I love a smart show, that has something to say.   Great potential here, but I thought the performances were so terrible, I couldn't watch more than one episode.   I'm surprised it got renewed.  Good news for those who like it!
