US on Masterpiece Theater on PBS

I don't know if this will be a good show, but it is new.  It looks like it is

just a two night installment -- tonight and next Sunday night.

I am going to check it out and wanted to let you all know in case

you want to check it out also.

Happy Father's Day to all dads out there in blogs & forums land!!!!

Re: US on Masterpiece Theater on PBS

I have had more time to investigate this show since I originally posted.  It looks like it will be a pretty good drama/comedy.

It is about a 20 years married couple with a son about to go off to college.  They are going on a long-planned tour of Europe even though the wife wants a divorce.

It is based on a novel by a best-selling author, David Nicholls.

UK's The Daily Telegraph called it a "brilliantly witty and heartfelt drama about a family on the edge."

On the fence. A strange choice to run on Father's Day?

@cornicopia   Just checked Google and "US" is a 4 part series.  Got the DVR set to record.

@cornicopia ...thank you for posting this.  Watching this now.

I like the actor playing the husband.  He played Jim "Miami Beach" in the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" and also was in the movie "Pride and Prejudice" with Keira Knightley.

Well, it's better than watching 2 hours of Susan Graver, lol.

I hoped it would be awfully good but would have settled for watchable. Thirty minutes in and I've reached my limit. It is inane, not a bit amusing, characters unappealing. Just awful.

Re: US on Masterpiece Theater on PBS

Some beautiful scenery, particularly of Amsterdam, poignant and evocative and yet incredibly slow moving to the point of being sleep inducing. Overall, not terribly entertaining. I'm also fed up with TV dramas over-relying on flashbacks to tell a story. In this case, they seemed particularly gratuitous. Like so many recent presentations, this hardly lived up to the 'Masterpiece' moniker. All that said, since I started it I'll try to finish it next week, as what I saw was that it's a two part mini-series. If it runs longer than that, unless it picks up significantly, it's doubtful I'll see it through to the end.
