@SeaMaiden wrote:Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have even more financial trouble on their hands.
According to legal documents obtained by Us Weekly, the couple were served earlier this month in regard to their case against City National Bank. The company wants to examine the pair’s finances after they allegedly declined to pay back more than $205,000 in debt.
The papers ordered Spelling, 45, and McDermott, 52, to report to court for the examination so that the bank can decide how to get the money. If the pair do not attend their hearing, they could be arrested for being in contempt of court.
City National Bank filed the lawsuit in December 2016 after the True Tori alums allegedly failed to repay their $400,000 bank loan. McDermott and Spelling received a default judgment that stated they had to hand over $219,796.66 in the case.
Us obtained court documents in January in which the Beverly Hills, 90210 star was ordered to pay American Express $88,000. The credit card company sued her in January

Wow his ex wife must be thinking when he left her truly turned out to be a blessing for her. Tori grew up with a lot of money. Obviously she is having a hard time living with less money.

It seems both of them went downhill after getting married. I remember her parents gave her a lovely wedding for her first marriage. It seems after she left her husband it went downhill.

I agree very much with what @shoekitty said. They both need to GROW UP!
I have no idea what it would be like to grow up with more money and indulgence that I can not even wrap my brain around. But I can say this: I grew up poor. Once I moved away from Mommy and Daddy, began working, then husband, house, child, I did develop a shopping addiction. Still, to this day, I need to temper my urges to fill that emotional hole of buying. The thing is, once I woke up, forced awareness upon myself, I paid off all of my credit cards and I am doing okay for the last 10 years or so. Not just okay, I am doing excellent I should say. I am almost 61 years old so the change did not happen overnight. It is an addiction, and addiction that some, including myself, always need to keep in check, but certainly control is possible.
Those 2 have no excuse and I have little pity for them. They need to stop shopping, stop with the vanity with facial fillers and whatever else to look good, save some money and send those kids to public school so they have a chance on being normal kids. Stop trying to keep up with the Jones. I bet they could save thousands of dollars so easily. They seem to just not care.
Edited to say that my debt was pennies compared to the McDermotts, but way more than what I should have been spending. It's about living within your means.

@sunshine 919 Much of the discord between Tori and her Father started when she left her first husband for Dean... Her father liked and cared for the first husband... gave her a stellar unbelievable wedding and then Tori goes off with Dean. It was a real issue between them until his death. They never resolved it. Why her Father left the same $800,000 ( that was also given to Tori) to her brother is unknown to me. I do not know what their relationship was between the brother and the Father at the time of his death.
I think children EXPECT to be in a parents will. The expect to inherit something..... I say do not expect ANYTHING. It is not your money and your parents owe you nothing. They gave you birth and let you grow up took care of you to adulthood. Why do kids think they deserve more???? I sure never did and I received nothing when my parents passed. I survived just fine.
. Tori seems to think if she holds out long enough she will get in on her Mom's money. I hope she does not. Tori is capable of making a living. She has had several businesses that did just fine, plus all those books she wrote. WHERE DID ALL THAT MONEY GO? She has made much more money than most people would make in several lifetimes. She needs to live in her means which is a much higher income than most of us. Dean does not even pay his child support from his past marriage and why he would continue to have more children when he does not take care of the other children??? They need to pay their bills.... and live within their means. It is not that hard. Many people do it every day.
Tori and Dean are LOSERS....

@sunshine 919 I agree with you. No one should ever expect to be left anything in a will. If you are counting on it, and living your life as though you will receive a windfall at some point in the future, there is something terribly wrong. Tori is lucky her father left her a token (by his standards) when her mother was still alive. That is not always the case.
Where debt is concerned, it is amazing what people can get away with. I know someone that has filed bankruptcy in the past year. They made so much money that they must repay part of the debt. This includes a car payment. The repayment is less than the original car payment on a nearly $200,000 bankruptcy. They only have to repay 1/3 of the debt, and I can't swear to it, but I don't think they have to pay any interest. The most shocking thing to me is that all the things in the garage that I refer to as "toys" (jet ski, boat, motorcycles, extra cars, etc.) are not touched. They don't have to sell any of that stuff to repay the debt. This person also had some cash from the sale of one of their toys and hid it from the bankruptcy. That was spending cash! They are allowed to have one new credit card with a $3,000 limit to start rebuilding their credit. The person I know has so much extra cash now that they don't have to pay their credit cards every month, they have been on two trips so far. One to Cabo, one to Hawaii (they love to travel). Sure this person is really messed up, but why isn't there some way to watch situations like this? Bankruptcy has been made to look like such an attractive option, I can see this person pulling this same stunt again if it is legally allowable.
Tori and Dean are in their financial difficulties because they keep getting bailed out. Just like the person I know, they should have to get around in a reliable used car that they have paid cash for, and have no credit cards. Any purchases they make should be make with good old fashioned cash. That is how you learn the value of a dollar. If Candy wants to give Tori anything, give her a nightmare of a money manager to teach those two how to spend responsibly, and Candy can throw in a pair of scissors so Tori can start clipping coupons.

As you stated, I agree.
She / they have had plenty of time to take the ‘grow up Pill 💊’.
Now someone needs to feed it to them.
WAI.

Over and over I keep hearing that Americans are in unbelievable in debt with credit cards.
Again, who's fault is that? The government shuts down and no one has any savings? I don't know if it's true but my friend (myself and all of my friends have worked for the Federal government) says that the government has shut down many times. So, it's not like it won't or can't happen, yet no one has any savings.
I'm sorry, but this entire story is stupid. The numbers are stupid high but a lot of Americans are fanny hole in debt (mostly credit card debt).
Just a sign of the times.
@Annabellethecat66...BINGO! When we had the recent government shut-down, and the news was saying that people couldn't pay their mortgage, rent, buy groceries, etc...my first thought was, do they not put a dime into savings? Any financial planner will tell you to have at least 6 months of living expenses socked away for emergencies. I'm not trying to sound insensitive here, but geesh, at least have something socked away!

I guess there is a reason her father didn't leave her much in the way of an inheritance, and her mother knows her daughter well too. Have either she or her husband considered moving to a house of lesser value and living like the rest of the regular people live, on a fixed budget with very little in the way of savings due to their low earnings? Unlike everyone else, they DO have comfort in the knowledge that neither they nor their kids will ever go hungry because grandma will always be there to provide.

Tori saying she grew up so rich she had no concept of money.....so she spends more than she has and never pays who she owes??? That is not an excuse for having no concept of money.
I grew up getting everything I ever wanted....of course not the wealth of the spellings...duh... but I always got what ever I wanted. When I left home at age 17 and on my own....reality set in.... get a job, live within my means and have a budget....and doing without things I wanted, but could not afford. I never got into debt my entire life or blamed my growing up comfortably for not paying bills because I had no concept of money!
There is right and wrong. Tori is just a user and a thief. Plain and simple.
