First, I didn't "attack" @patbz , but I was rather surprised by her comments.
People aren't living "alternative lifestyles", they are being true to who they are and there's nothing wrong with living authentically. Same sex couples live everywhere, not just in large cities. If you consider seeing this in a character's storyline, it's not "blindsiding" anyone; it's just depicting who they are. No adult should be offended by real life.
In real life, "alternative lifestyles" may make up 1% of the population but get 100% attention from Hollywood. They are not that special

@software I know. That’s why people should shut off their tv and be very selective about movies. I know so many people who rant and rave about this but they just keep going back for more. As long as money and ratings are coming in, it will never stop.

I really didn't care for it that much. As stated, it threw everything into the mix. If there is something else on, I will choose the alternative.

In real life, the percentage is much higher than one percent.

I watched about the first fifteen minutes then turned the channel. Just didn't interest me in the least.

Well, it was certainly inclusive. I expected it to be better than it was. I always give a new series three episodes to get my attention. If it doesn't, I'm done. I love Edie Falco, so I'm hoping it improves. What I'm really liking is Deputy on Fox. Even my husband likes it, and he doesn't watch much regular TV.

My guess is that all sorts of pressure has been put on networks to be more inclusive .... and that means minorities ... of all sorts. So what? People are people and the real issue is whether the storylines are good and hold our interest. I like Edie Falco and think the show has a better than even chance of working out. JMO

I liked the show. I did not mind the introduction of the characters. It may well be due to the upcoming story lines.
In the previews for future episodes it has the former chief of police, her daughter and the mayor.
I will keep watching.
