A lot of people don't know that the original slippers in the Wizard of Oz were silver. Not Ruby. The creaters of the film want them to stand out. Here is a clip of them as silver. If they are going to remake it, them make as Baum wanted to tell the story. Also read the book. Much better then the movie.

I had the original Oz books and yes, they were silver slippers and the ruby showed better on Technicolor. I have read that the theme behind the story was something about the gold standard (yellow brick road), silver (the slippers) and ounces (Oz).

This is really interesting. Now I want to read the original book.
