As the world of Internet has made our World smaller & smaller,

the ‘enemy’ can’t be defined like yesteryear.  ‘Them’ could be

someone on the Dark Web whom lives half-way across the World

or they’re our next-door neighbor.

They should have one last movie, Jump the Shark style,

showing where ‘Bond’ was a double agent allll these years.

Boom.

Plot twist.

@sidsmom It isn't real.  It's fiction.  It's a movie.  Literature doesn't have to be up to the minute to be a great book.  Why should a movie?  People write about and make movies about the past, present and future all the time.

@Sooner

Obviously you haven’t seen the long, long list of fictional Bond movies

of past years where the ‘enemy’ usually coincides with current

World events.

@sidsmom That's not what I said.  I said movies and literature are not compelled to reflect the current world situation:  Where we are at a pitched war, but who wants to watch people sit at computer terminals and fight foreign invasions in cyberspace?

The Bond movies are a wondeful formula for a fun and exciting movie.  I am sad to see them go!  I think one day they WILL be back.

Nope!  I will not be interested in a female 007.  I have no problem with a woman spy/agent.  Just don't try to pawn it off as 007.  James Bond.

What's next?  A woman playing George Washington?  A woman playing Julius Caesar?  I was the biggest fan in the world of the Avengers.  The original one.  WAAAAAY back. I have always wanted to be Mrs. Peel.

@Sooner  I agree. There's nothing wrong with some things remaining traditions. Have all the spy movies you want starring women, men, and one eyed cyclops, for that matter, of all races and ethnicities, but James Bond is, well, James Bond... This feels a bit gratuitious and it'll be interesting to see the box office numbers. And yes, Emma Peel was the gold standard.

Unless there’s a movie series called ‘Misogynistic Bond’,

that ‘ole dinosaur is long gone.  New Era.

Idris Elba was my choice. He thought he was to old, but, I don't.

I don't want a woman. Don't like to see women tortured, etc.

She might go the way of George Lazenby he flopped like a dead fish.

James Bond is a fictional character.
