It's the film adaption of the Broadway musical which is itself an adaption of a novel by Gregory Macguire based on two characters (witches) from the Wizard of Oz books.

And I am so tired of hearing about it already!

I know I am in the minority but I saw the show and didnt care for it, found the story line to be very difficult to follow and the music just fair at best. Costumes, and scenery were very pretty. Not so sure this is a film for young children, like I said, plot is hard to follow.  I have never understood the popularity of the show. No interest in the film.

@Shelbelle You are not alone.

I thought the first half of the Broadway show was magical but then it got weird and not for me at the end. I too wouldn't think of the Broadway version as one for young kids either.

Hope the movie version entertains those off to see it. I am going to wait for the re-release of White Christmas in December as my next movie outing.

@Shelbelle, I'll bet if you'd read the book you might like it even less than you do now.

About 25+ years ago, there was a casting director who frequented the restaurant where I worked and we became fast friends. She'd always be wading through stacks of books, interested to find the next best thing, & would give me the books when she was through w/ them.

Wicked was one of them, & I hated it.

But, surprise! It's now the new best thing!

Muddling through...

I am not interested in the movie, play or product tie ins though some of them may become collectible.

Can’t stand looking at that actress’s face with the green in it.

I saw the Broadway play in 2004 with the original cast. I was afraid that the movie would disappoint me. But I was wrong. The movie is great!  Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are perfectly cast as Glinda and Elphaba.  Both have great voices. There wasn't anything about the movie that I didn't like. Now just have to wait for part 2.

I'm not much into musical films. Not my kind of entertainment.
