Re: The most important movie I've ever seen

To be honest, I couldn't finish the series. I didn't care for it at all.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

The TV mini-series of so many decades ago -- "Roots" and "The Holocaust" were important, IMO.  I wish they would revive them.

Of recent releases, the movie BELFAST was very moving.  It did portray a time of turmoil in Northern Ireland,  but it was more a story of a young boy’s life in a Protestant family during this time.  Much emphasis on family and interpersonal relations.  I highly recommend.

Re: The most important movie I've ever seen

I recently watched a documentary "Attica" on one of the movie channels.I grew up in western Ny and was in 8th grade when it happened.When I saw it in the guide,I determined I knew very little of what transpired. It was quite eye opening and I,indeed,learned a lot.

@Mindy D

We watched this series about a month ago.

It's based on a true story by Stephanie Land.

I'm not into awards so I cannot identify with all of your post regarding who should get what-it's just not that important.

I do agree with the other poster, however, that the issues presented in this series are not unique nor did I feel this series shed any new light.

Re: The most important movie I've ever seen

I watched it awhile back and thought it was very well done and I am glad that you liked it so well.  It didn't really grab me as much as you but it was very interesting and worth watching. Netflix is something I watch a lot, probably more than anything else, and I like that they have such a wide variety.

Re: The most important movie I've ever seen

I have come up with another movie which I consider important to me.

Glory starring Matthew Brodrick and Denzel Washington.

I did not know about that very important battle during the Civil War before the movie.

Spotlight. Not only important but incredibly well-acted and well-edited.
