The Vikings: The Profit and the Loss 3/31/16

SPOILER

synopsis

I am wondering whether the much awaited showdown between Ragnar and Bjorn will be resolved in tonight's episode.  Hope that this is not Ragnar's exit.  Will have to check for blind characters tonight; the seer told Ragnar that he(Ragner) would die when a blind man saw him.  Maybe it is the seer himself.

What long awaited showdown between Ragnar and Bjorn? Bjorn is his son and while they haven't always agreed I haven't seen anything that indicates a showdown. Now Floki or Rollo yes I can see that

@jaxs mom

Uh-oh, I meant Rollo, not Bjorn.  Oops!

  So this show is kind of taking an "XXX" rated edge...am not sure I like the emphasis on so much s*x.  I realize s*x is always a part of every series, but get back to the original storyline. And last week, the son breastfeeding at his age was bit strange and unnecessary to the story!

I must have blinked too fast in a few previous episodes.......

Why did Rollo turn against his brother Ragnar?

@Mz iMac  I think Rollo was always jealous of his brother's power and popularity.  Yarl Borg played on this to turn Rollo against in his brother in Season 2.  The Seer told Rollo that he would marry a princess and become royalty.  I believe that is why he is willing to back the Franks against the Vikings.

From what I've read about what historians speculate is that Rollo goes on to become famous in his own right so I wouldn't think they'd write him out of the show at this point.

Why would Rollo turn on Ragnar? IMO, he was probably tired of being a 2nd rate leader of their group.

@corita  I agree that the scene was jarring.  From what I have read, Ivar grows up to be a very brutal warrior.  I think his relationship with Aslaug is meant to be twisted as part of the explanation for his cruelty.

 After Ivar killed the other little boy with his mini-axe, Aslaug told her son that he wasn't to blame.  Perhaps Aslaug is grooming him in the hopes that one day he will overthrow his father and establish her as queen and sole ruler?

Ragnar is clearly disappointed, and perhaps a little guilty, that Ivar neither participates with his brothers Yol traditions nor wants to.

Also, Aslaug expects Floki to advise her young son.  I think this is normally a father's role.

I will be interested to see if Sigurd(sp), the son who witnessed the breast feeding, will have any reaction.

Anybody watch the final show for the season last night???  Lots more fighting, but it was interesting to see the boys as young adults!  I hate that they turned Ragnar into a druggie and now he has disapeared???  I wonder if this show will be renewed, most people I know have stopped watching it!

Did you miss the end? Ragnar was in it and back in Kattegat. This was a midseason finale, they are coming back with 10 more episodes. They even did a preview.
