The Stand (original and remake)

I loved the 1994 mini-series based on a book by Stephen King, and recently heard they filmed a remake to be shown on CBS All Access.

Anyone else a fan or looking forward to the new version?  Or does it hit too close to home now?

I loved the first one.  I think Whoopie Goldberg is in this one, thats why she had the white hair.

I saw the first version on TV and thought it was well made but, for me, too well done.  It was a little scary for me.  I would like to see this version because Whoopi Goldberg is in it.

I'd love to see it but don't have CBS Access.

Re: The Stand (original and remake)

The Stand is one of the books that has stayed in my head years later, I loved that book! It must be in a box in storage right now, I was looking for it to reread and can't find it but still have a lot of books in boxes from when I moved. I'd definitely read it right now if I could find it. Can't wait to see the mini-series! I'd been rereading Robin Cook books when this started which are medical thrillers, those are worse than reading The Stand! Watched Pandemic too, maybe I'm overdoing it but it doesn't freak me out, especially since most of those books are older and the science isn't up-to-date.

THE STAND had always scared me because it could happen.  King's killer cars, vampires, etc. are not scary to me.  Robin Cook novels scare me because they all could happen.  I love them all.

I didn't watch the movie version after reading the book.

Just because the change ,add etc and even endings from the book.

For example in Cojo, and the one Jack Nicholson was in...it was changed so much i vowed that if i ever read another of his books and then they made a movie based on it...not to watch...just me and my thoughts.
