That show used to be one of our favorite. We have been so disappointed in the first 2 new episodes. Probably will not watch it anymore.

I completely agree.

@Group 5 minus 1,

I'm glad that you had brought up the subject- The Middle-

    ..."with very little of anything wholesome on tv period, that was one show   *WE* discovered later.....on, but did by accident.....did see tuesday the new season's Middle.

I could not understand how Sue was (all of a sudden) in college? We had to have missed the 1st episode. Anyone here that can explain the fill in "TIME" we missed. I love the older re-runs, even though we had never seen any of the shows when they first came on::::as IN what year?

I definitely did notice how much older Sue, Axel were, but did not see anything OF ____Brick____??

So, can anyone fill me in. I watch very little of anything on tv, but this show(old re-runs) fits my schedule....showing late at night.

Thank you in advance.

NAES

In the first episode, they drove Sue to college. She wanted the whole family to go and Axel didn't want to go along, but he did. There was fighting and car trouble, but eventually they all made it there. Frankie struggled with the fact that she wasn't sad that Sue was leaving, but it hit her at the end. That's all you missed.

@ChynnaBlue::::

Thank you....the children...."they have to be in their 20s+"

Even so, I love the characters...don't believe the show will make it another season UNLESS it's totally another twist...i.e., out of school, married, children...a completely turn-a-round. Just thinking out loud. NAES

**also, thank you poster - explaining Brick is still at home. That was WHAT I missed from the the 1st episodes........Still never get tired of re-runs!

There are so few good comedies on TV anymore but I still enjoy this show.Hopefully,as the season goes on,more will happen to entertain us.

I did enjoy seeing Axel check on Sue and take her out to eat.I thought it showed the more thoughtful and caring part of him.

What night, network, and time is this on?  We love watching the old ones.  Sorry to hear that the new ones are a disappointment.

Have to watch and see for myself!

I just typed in a long post on this subject and it said I needed to sign in (again) when I tried to sign in over and over it didn't say it was wrong it just showed blank.

This kind of stuff makes me sick.  There is no reason for it.

@tends2dogs,

 Hello,

Not exactly sure for everyone's geography, but I noted and penciled 'in' tuesdays...at 8pm...on ABC. I know the show was on a non cable channel. As I mentioned, my husband was changing the channel when we had seen the last 12 or so minutes. That's why I was so interested in any feedback from anyone who may have known way before I did. Did know that I read in May's line up...something about the NEW show, but thought (that) must be a mistake. The characters are so strong, the show was such a hit, I cannot possibly understand why the producers [ Patricia Heaton] does Not take this and run with it. I know of so many people, young & older who absolutely does love this show.

It was almost canceled at the end of last season. ABC waited until the last minute to renew it (and many other things) and the actor who plays Axl actually accepted a role in a pilot before they did. I don't know what will happen there, but if the pilot gets picked up, we may not see Axl much this season.

_____

@ChynnaBlue,

........"thank you for This Much Information".......

I thought that was (maybe) what had happened. What I have known from past show / their experiences, someone has this grand idea and tries to take a positive character OUT, then as you mentioned A Pilot, and it goes no where. He, Axl, is not that that strong enough of 'special presentation' to hold another show to the extent of The Middle. He's pretty well stereoTyped as what the viewer has processed He as 'part' of that show. May be he can pull it off in another show, but personally his acting is not that strong to be in anything- tv quality'.. with any drama...I've seen that so often happening. I'm not exactly sure of their ages, but do believe Charlie is possibly around 24+.  Sue would be very close in age to Charlie.

Anyone savvy smart would build from this show and take IT to another phase - new generation- new life.

Each had (children) their nitch that came about at the right time, so I know Heaton is intelligent enough to see beyond what someone else is trying Not to create further. The 3 children made the show. The show made the 3 children become more interesting. That will be possibly the last of these 3 we will ever see again. It only takes 1 insightful producer to know this.

   However, for what it's worth, We did enjoy it all as long as it lasted. Again, ChynnaBlue, thank you for that much info. you provided. Have a great day~

The fall series of this is running on CBS Wednesday night @ 7:30.

It may also be running on the FAM network, and those look like re-runs.
