Life on the road isn't what it's cracked up to be when a honeymooning couple invests in an oversized motor home.

Nicky (Desi Arnaz) and Tacy (Lucille Ball) are going to be married. Nicky wants to save up money for a house, but Tacy dreams of starting off with their own home on wheels--a trailer. After the two are hitched, they hitch up their trailer and begin their honeymoon. The humor comes from several disastrous adventures the couple has while traveling including Tacy's awkward attempt to cook dinner in a moving trailer, and a cliffhanging ride through the mountains that nearly destroys their marriage.

* * * After filming, Lucy and Desi kept the trailer used in the movie at their home. In an interview, daughter Lucie Arnaz recalls using it as the children's playhouse and how much fun they had opening and closing the door to hear the chimes.

@lmt  Thank you for a walk down memory lane! I still remember watching that movie in Radio City Music Hall when I was a child. My late Mother took me there from time to time. I still recall the scene when their trailer gets stuck in the mud!

I love this movie and have seen it more times than I can remember.

Of course, my favorite scene being when she is trying to prepare dinner in the trailer while it is moving.  It is pure gold!

And, when Nicky is trying to park the trailer and destorys the overhead trellis and rose bushes.  It never gets old watching him sweat it out.  If you have ever tried to back up a car with a trailer attached, you fully understand his anxiety.

Just a fun, funny and touching movie.  They really were a fab couple on the big screen.

In addition to the delightful team of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, look who directed the movie, Vincente Minnelli and produced by Pandro S. Berman.

Neither one of those men were known for making comedies. It makes you wonder why they teamed together for this one.  Vincente Minnelli made this movie between making Brigadoon and The Band Wagon. And Pandro Berman made this movie between Knights of the Round Table and The Blackboard Jungle.

Maybe they just liked the lighthearted tone of the script and who was starring in the movie.

The early days of the shutdown I was the only one in the office for weeks.  I found this movie for free on youtube.  It so eased my morning and my heart.  I had not seen it in years.

Also, love Marjorie Main who has a small part, but it's just perfection for her.  

Lucy's green dress in the clip above is such a lovely, vintage, outfit.
