I played the Irishman from Netflix for my husband. The acting was very good but the movie was like Goodfellas Part 2. There was nothing special about the plotline, the writing or the directing. The director doesn't come close to Coppola's The Godfather. The movie is good for mob movie aficionados. It was not good enough to make me like it very much.

The Irishman - c'mon, DeNiro as an Irish person?

Blue contacts DON'T make a dent in the believability!

It's like every other Scorsese Mob Flick - but two weeks long, I mean I felt like it was literally half a month long, it was forever that movie!

I don't think it was worth awards, but it was ENTERTAINING (even though it was recycled) that's just my...

The "real" Irishman just died on Thursday.

I watched it a few weeks ago. I agree with those who think it's a cross (and not a good one) between The Godfather and Goodfellas.

I'm actually glad it didn't win any Oscars.

I haven't/won't see The Irishman.  IMO there are certain directors and actors who get nominated no matter what movie they've made/are in.  Scorcese, again IMO, is an overrated director.  Would have much preferred to have seen Greta Gerwig nominated for Little Women.

@Mindy D: I would like to watch The Irishman, but am concerned about the level of violence. I don't like tv shows or movies containing graphic violence.

  I enjoyed the movie.

Al Pacino did an outstanding job as Jimmy Hoffa and I found that part of the story interesting.  His performance was definitely worthy of an award.

When you put Scorsese, Pacino, DeNiro, et al. in a movie, you definitely know what you are going to get.
