Re: The Great American Baking Show

I'm sure those ovens were calibrated, so the temp was ok. It was the bakers who weren't up to snuff

It was a contest ,so the ovens would have to all have the same readings to make it fair

Judging by what  I saw, I think the Brits were better bakers. They baked under the same conditions

Re: The Great American Baking Show

I love the whole tent-outside thing the British show had going. Who but the English would decide to cook outside when rain may happen at any moment.  I agree that many baked goods are unfamiliar and not really all that appetizing looking, however, that's what made the show so fun to watch. I also liked the cultural diversity represented by the contestants. They're all very British though, aren't they?

I'm looking forward to seeing the American version, although so many good ideas from abroad lose their oomph once they come here.  We'll see.

The Great American Baking Show is on tonight at 9:00 on ABC. Mary Berry will be on , she was on the British version, which I just loved. Anyone else watching? 🍰🍩🍪

I watch on PBS.  I enjoy it.

I watched last year and the only thing I liked about it was Mary.
