I heard that it was having a series finale and watched. It seemed pretty entertaining. But I was surprised that Murray(?) -the father had died. Was that just for the last show or when/why did it happen ? I assume it was a heart attack as he hardly moved from his chair ? Smiley Happy

@okaywitheasypay  The guy who played "Murray" got fired last year after allegations of misconduct.

@Daisy Sunflower and @okaywitheasypay- Once George Segal passes away and Jeff Garlin was fired, I think the show suffered. IRL Adam's father, who was a doctor, not a furniture store owner, did die early. But I think one of his grandfathers owned a store.

Beverly Goldberg is still alive.

I like how Beverly's high school boyfriend was "George" - a tribute to George Segal maybe?

I loved this show, and I'm sad it's ending. It went downhill a little after Adam Goldberg left to write Schooled, which I also loved, and which was cancelled to put on Abbott Elementary. Wendy became an executive producer, and I thought last season was too much Beverly. But I liked the story lines this season and I think they could have kept going. The ratings were good.

I liked how they used the real people in the cast - the football game with the real "JTP," the real "Brea B." playing Brea B.'s mom, etc. At the end of both shows you would see the real people from Adam's life the actors were portraying.

I like Barry and Joanne together, but in Schooled, which took place 10 years after The Goldbergs, he was with Lainey. However, Erica and Geoff were married and living in Virginia.

Of course Erica and Geoff were not based on real people. Adam has two brothers, Eric and Barry. The network wanted to make one of his family members a teenage girl, so Eric became "Erica"!  Smiley Happy
