The Big Brother 23 Houseguests!

And we've got houseguests! They seem to have gone young and pretty again this year.

First up is Alyssa. She's a BB fan who actually has watched the show. Very pretty.

Next up is Azah who has a rather large afro in her photo which should make her easy to recognize. Another BB watcher whose favorite player was Jun, so she goes way back.

Brent is a male flight attendant. He used to be the live lottery host for Rhode Island. Doesn't seem to know much about BB from the little I've seen.

Britini is a longtime fan going back to at least season 14. She's a kindergarten teacher.

Christie is one of several bald-headed players this year. She's a professional dancer (exotic?) Has eleven piercings including five she did herself. She's a vegan and pescatarian so mealtimes should be interesting. Seems to have been another fan.

Christian is up next. He's a young guy whose favorite players are Zack and Frankie. (Ugh!)

Derek Frazier is up next and yes, he's the son of the boxer Joe Frazier. He's baldheaded guy number one. His favorite BB moment was the Dijck and Jen fight, so he's watched for a while.

Derek Xiao is up next, so we have a black Derek and an Asian Derek. That's going to make updates interesting. He says absolutely nothing about BB, so he might be a recruit.

Brandon "Frenchie" French is up next. (Maybe bald-headed guy two? I've only seen him in a hat, so hard to tell.) A farmer. He'll apparently go by Frenchie in the house. Another longtime fan whose favorite BB moment was Britney imitating Rachel way back when.

Hannah is up next and is a 21-year-old graduate student. Her favorite BB pair was Bayleigh and Da'Vonne. Probably not a long-time watcher.

Kyland is a 30-year-old account exec. (A man if you can't tell by the name.) Probably not a BB fan based on the one thing I've read so far.

Sarah is a 27-year-old forensic scientist. (She'll figure out who soils the bathroom!) She seems like a fan as Britney/Ian and Frank/Bridget are her favorite BB couples.

Tiffany is the oldest (so far anyway) at 40. She's a phlebotomist who gets a kick out of needling people. (She doesn't say that but it felt right, so I threw it in.) She doesn't mention any former players but wants to sleep in the HOH room and eat slop, so she knows that much about the game anyway. I'm not sure if she knows more than that.

Travis is kind of this year's surfer dude from the looks of things. His favorite players are Winston and Brett, reportedly they showed the houseguests season 20 in sequester so he's likely not a real fan and is instead a recruit. Travis, Hannah, and Brent only named players from that season, so all three are likely recruits.

Whitney is 30. (My early favorite bearing in mind I'm going off of next to nothing just yet.) Her favorite player was Derrick (eh, okay,) and loved Dan's funeral.

And finally, we have Xavier. Another of the bald-headed guys/gals. (Going to be lots of head shaving going on in the bathroom this year.) Probably a longtime fan as he knows about Danielle Reyes and Britney's goodbye message to Boogie in BB 14.

Not the worst cast I've ever seen, but we'll grow to love some and hate some over the coming months. Expect my opinions n them to change quite a bit once the live feeds start.

If I had to pick a winner now, I might lean towards Alyssa. Derek Frazier will likely get voted out once people know who his father is. The "he's rich, so why should we let him win?" mindset will kill him if he tells them who he is. Christie strikes me as being a bit "out there." Sarah reminds me of Zoey Deschanel. Not a bad cast. At least not yet. We'll see what happens down the road.

It sounds like every media outlet got the same stat sheet on the new houseguests. Having read a bit more, I'm thinking all four team captains could end up being women. The guys all seem to be planning to lie low and play later, while the women are more looking to start out winning and never stop. Will the guy's egos let them lose to the women? We'll have to see.

Christie may be bald because she has alopecia. I'm currently in the middle of my second major flare in less than a year. I lost almost all my hair and it has just started growing back in February. Then it started again in May and I am still losing my hair--I'm almost bald except a 'mohawk' patch on top.

If that's the case with Christie--she won't be shaving her head.

Thanks @gardenman for the info! Interesting reading about the players but, like you said, it doesn't really tell us a lot. One thing I noticed was a couple of the guys mentioned how they would be using their charm to get ahead. I don't know why but that always rubs me the wrong way. I think it's because from past experience the players who think they're the most charming are usually the biggest jerks, lol!

I got an offer for a free month of Paramount so I signed up yesterday. It turned out to be a slight pain because every time I tried to enter my email addy it would say "this address is already being used." Of course it was being used...by me! Somehow my old All Access account was interfering and not letting me sign in so I created a new email and signed up with that. I called customer service who told me to use the 30 days and then they'd help me get back on my old account. Somehow I always manage to make it harder than it should be.

@DrKelli I did a little search and you're right. It turns out Christie does has have alopecia. She's very pretty and wow is she ever in great shape! She either is or was or competed to be in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

The only warning sign I saw from her was the comment "I'm going to use my hair loss secret to my advantage." Hmmm...if she's saying her alopecia is going to be a secret how does she use it to her advantage? My only thought was she might say she lost it due to chemo? Maybe I'm way off base on that but I hope she doesn't do that. I guess we'll be finding out soon.

It won't be long now!

Yeah, the guys who plan to sneak by on their charm, or lay low until late in the game always annoy me. You have guys who work out for hours a day and when a comp comes that involves anything physical they throw it (often very poorly acted) and claim they're amazed at how well the weaker players do. My goal would be to get rid of the "I'll play later" guys as quickly as possible.

I wasn't a huge fan of ED's play in season eight, but he recognized the threats and flushed them whenever he got the chance. His only real mistake was keeping Zach around to the end and Zach almost beat him in a later comp. Kail had built an alliance of the big, strong, young guys, and ED picked them off one after another.

When you look at this cast, Travis, Brent, Christian, Kyland, and Xavier would seem to be big physical threats. Derek F, Derek X, and Frenchie seem to be less of a physical threat, so I'd be more inclined to keep them around. (By the way, Frenchie is a diehard BB fan and has chatted up pretty much every former player and superfan on Twitter at one time or another. He's even openly flirted with some of the female fans despite being married with a kid.)

The women seem more intent on playing this year and we've got quite a few women who really seem to know the game. It should be fun to see how it plays out.

They don't do a whole lot of cleaning. We've had houseguests from a current season find clothing or other stuff left behind by a past houseguest. It's hard to understand how that happens, but it has a couple of times. They'll pull out a drawer and there's something from a previous season left behind.

We should be getting a house tour over the weekend or very early next week. It's said to be a combination of a beach house and a Vegas casino. That's an interesting pairing to pull off. I'm not sure how they did it, but we'll see. Julie was back on the set recently, so she likely shot the house tour then.

Reasonably reliable sources say the houseguests had a photoshoot yesterday, so new photos should be popping up soon. Chances are they did the swimsuit shots. If they didn't let them all do it together, we'll see another badly photoshopped image.
