The Affair -- I'm So Confused Possible Spoiler

I have watched every season and episode of "The Affair" and this year's shows really have me so confused.  Please someone answer this -- who is Joanie's father?  Thought it was Noah, and then last night's episode indicated Cole.  With all my confusion, I'm sort of happy it's the last season.

Cole died at age 72, grieving over Allison and focused on the military guy who may have killed Allison. Joannie checked in on her dad but wished he could have been happier.
