TVGN Sets January Launch For Pop

by The Deadline Team November 17, 2014 8:20am

TVGN’s previously announced rebrand to Pop becomes official on January 14. That’s when the CBS/Lionsgate joint venture takes on its new on-air look and creative design that celebrates “the fun of being a fan”. That same day, previously announced series Rock This Boat: New Kids On The Block, which follows die-hard fans of the famous boy band who join their idols on a cruise ship, will debut with two back-to-back episodes at 8 and 8:30 PM. The Story Behind, which tells the story of how TV’s biggest shows got their start follows at 9 PM. Schitt’s Creek, TVGN’s first original scripted comedy starring Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, premieres Wednesday, February 11 at 10 PM.

==================================================

This is just the latest in a series of changes at TVGN. Formerly the channel presented only the daily basic cable schedule below an ad box. Then they added off-net syndicated programming such as Early Edition, but that distracting omnipresent schedule filled the lower third of the screen. The next step in its evolution was the addition of sporadic original programming. Most memorable were various Awards Fashion Wrap editions, a poor imitation of E!'s Fashion Police, with a panel that consisted of Kyle Richards (RHOBH), Ali Landry, Nick Verreos and Tabatha Coffey (Tabatha's Salon Takeover), who critiqued Red Carpet style. Finally TVGN eliminated the on-screen schedule earlier this year and began showing movies such as today's The Prince of Tides and Funny Girl. It'll be interesting to see what TVGN's new offerings look like starting in mid-January. - Keri

Re: TVGN Sets January Launch For Pop

Hi, Keri! Do you know if they will launch an HD version? Because I don't feel like having another summer of Big Brother After Dark in SD.
