While I love Robert R. in The Way We Were, I hated his character for being so selfish. I know it was portrayed in another time, but I still found myself wanting to slap him

Nevertheless, he was the perfect "Golden Boy" so, I watch it whenever I can.

Plus, the song is always good for a cry.

@Witchy Woman I found your comments so interesting because I have never liked this film because of Streisand's character! I think she's obnoxious and soooo uncompromising; she never gives an inch. I think she might have kept Redford if she had just toned it down a notch and not been so strident!

I have seen this film several times trying to like it and her character better, but I just don't and I always feel a little sorry for Redford!

Love the song though. ❤

I agree with you. I also found Streisand's character abrasive. She could not relax and enjoy herself for a moment. I can understand why the Redford character fell in love with her. She does have passion for her beliefs but being with her was only good in small doses not a lifetime commitment.
