@Pearlee - That is something about the baseball scoreboard - don't remember that. I remember my aunt saying while it was on, you didn't hear any cars on the road (we lived on a main two way street)- everyone was home watching it!

@Oznell That was the first episode I felt that Kimmel was really a Fugitive without everyone coming to his resue. It was the first season and the character was still in development, but you can see the transformation happening. He had become street smart. He knew the ropes and had come to the realization that he really was alone in his plight to prove his innocence.
As for Joe Campanella @Oznell i know you have mentioned Mannix so you will recall that he was Joe Mannix’s boss in Season 1. By season 2 Mannix had gone out on his own. I, too, liked Campanella a lot. He had a wonderful career and was always a joy to watch. As an aside, Mike Connors and I went to the same jeweler in Encino so I did know him. He did not disappoint. Nice guy and easy smile. Just like Mannix.

Such a good point, @chloe4578 ! The character truly was in development-- perhaps part of the joy of the series was in watching that happen, subtly, over time. And you are right, he was becoming street smart-- survivval being uppermost in his mind. Except on those occasions when that was over-ridden by Kimble's altruistic nature and he forgot danger in order to help others....
What did you think of that first season of Campanella on Mannix? As much as I like him, I don't think it was the best fit for him-- he was supposed to be a bit of a ramrod, while Mannix was the free-wheeling iconoclast. I don't think it was the best showcase for JC's considerable talents. By the way, as you may know, his older actor brother, Frank Campanella, appeared at least once on Mannix....
You met Mike Connors!!!! Love hearing that! I find him to be such a dear. That sunny, straightforward, 'regular-guy' quality was such an asset to him as "Mannix", as conversely, David Janssen's sort of inner 'sadness' and sensitivity was so enriching to the Kimble role...

@Oznell I agree with you. The writers were setting up Mannix to go into his own business. In season 1 he started to complain that he was better on his own, not working for somebody. Although JC did show up during the run of the series, I did feel that Mannix was better with Peggy. She developed throughout the series as more, much more than just a secretary. She always knew what to do. Peggy was a great asset to Joe and he knew it.
Mannix had a life. He went fishing, vacations, had love interests, etc., just a regular guy who happened to be a private eye. That show still holds up today and I still watch it whenever I can.
As for Kimmel... he never forgot that he was a doctor and felt an obligation to help people in need. It added to his character to have some weak moments, to forget the danger although he always knew Gerard was not far behind or that he was always in danger. Janssen was The Fugitive and he played the part well. That show, at times was so well written, so well acted, it’s hard to believe it was the sixties.
So looking forward to this weeks show. There will be a lot to discuss.

That makes me three, @chloe4578 and @Pearlee ! It's really one of the truly "meaty" ones, with excellent acting, (courtesy in part of veteran player Ed Begley, of course), philosophical point-making, and rather taut suspense. (At least, that's what I'm remembering-- a memorable scene amid the law library stacks comes to mind....)
