@stevieb wrote:@trenet @Sooner Add me to the list feeling they MUST keep this Thomas... Every soap needs some hot, young and hunky eye candy and he fills the bill perfectly. Besides, when he's sweet, he convincingly sweet without being essentially neutered and wimpy (like Kyle over in Genoa City) and when he's evil, he's evil with an edge... So tired of the tedious Dough Boy (Liam) and, as you all call him, Fishlips... being the only younger generation core family's male representatives on this show... Liam has just grown stale and FL just rolls from bed to bed and frankly, I've yet to see why all these women want him... Every soap needs a bad boy and I rather like this one...
@stevieb Yep! You are right! Thomas adds a spark that that show absolutely needs! Good or bad! Then Bill doesn't have to be the villan. Although he'd give Thomas a run for his money ($$$$$) on that score!
Thomas could be the new Dolla Bill and we could enjoy a kinder somewhat gentler Bill. With more screen time.

To make Thomas more attractive, the writers need to give him more of a soul. Thomas was almost there when he thought about telling Liam and Steffy about Beth, and then later when he went to see Hope but he couldn't tell her about Beth because he thought it would screw up his plan to have her. Because Thomas is so obsessed with Hope and will do everything and anything to have her as his wife in a soulless way, he is just not working for me. And Hope does not seem to be charmed by Thomas, either, especially when he forcibly kisses her and she abruptly pulls away. If Thomas was written to be more genuine with a heart and soul, Hope might fall for him. And then when Hope finds out about Beth she would be torn between Thomas and Liam. The writers are making Thomas devil-like, as noted in the camera pan showing Thomas' red ears as the lights from his car shone through them after the car accident. Perhaps all of this is intentional, but it does not make him attractive.
This storyline reminds me of a love triangle from Guiding Light: the dark Roger was obsessed with Holly who loved Ed (who was a little boring like poor Liam). But Roger had a soul and even thought he was very evil, you ended up liking him. Heck, even the GL matriarch Bert Bauer said Roger had a little good in him. And she was right. I SO MISS Guiding Light!
I hope the writers of B&B can do something with Thomas to make him more likeable to the viewers and maybe even to Hope if he can get a soul. All of this said, the actor who plays Thomas is very, very good to have me so creeped out and hoping he is taken away either in handcuffs or in a white jacket at some point.

@Sooner The way I look at it is if they could 'redeem' Luke of Luke and Laura fame (although I never watched and never saw the attraction...) they can surely redeem a hunk like Thomas...
Agree, he adds some excitement to this otherwise moribund mess...

Where is hot dog eating Detective Baker?
He should be on the case today, with his Fourth of July frankfurter! Oh yeah,
there was a younger guy last time with the Bill case. Guess our buddy is gone.
Probably Thomas dropped something at the car accident, hopefully and
sooner or later the drug guy will be on again. He thinks Thomas is taking
the pills for his own needs, not drugging some other person.
I miss Detective Baker. I think last time he appeared he had been promoted though and made only a few appearances- the detective on the case (was it “who shot Bill?”) was a young, Hispanic detective.
(Years Prior to that, they also had his son working a case too.)
Detective Hot Dog was the best though. Always fun when he interacted with
Stephanie (the original Stephanie, Eric’s wife). I always thought the show should have coordinated with Pink’s Hot Dogs in LA and create a Detective Baker Dog!

I know people coach their kids but, those scenes with Thomas telling Douglas what to say to Hope was creepy, nauseating and
I would say a form of emotional child abuse, especially the way he talked to the boy about Caroline.
Having Douglas present the ring and propose to Hope was beyond disgusting but, why do I think Hopeless will fall for it rather than taking Thomas aside and whumping him upside his face?
Was she dropped on her head as a child? Give that girl a brain MRI and see if anything is in there!

@trenet I agree, it is creepy with what Douglas is being told to do. Yet he does it to please his father...super nauseating. And the child actor is also giving me the willies doing it...like he's Damien not Douglas...
I hope they wrap up this storyline soon. If not, I think I will need to stop watching!

WAY back when my mother watched "As The World Turns" and they sort of rehabed John Dixon. I thought he was one of those evil guys you loved to hate and hated to love! Maybe I just like the bad boys! LOL!!!

The only thing I love about this show right now is watching Douglas. What a great little actor and adorable.

Ladies, ladies, ladies... any of you hating on my boy Thomas, just recognize that he's 'misunderstood'...
I personally think all he needs is someone with a firm hand, perhaps someone older and more experienced, to, um, straighten the boy out... Needless to say, I'm available... Alas, Hope simply doesn't have what it takes...

@Sooner John and Lucinda were a wonderful older soap couple... They were both bad and they were both good... Those writers knew how to write multi-dimensional characters and still make them likable... Lucinda (Elizabeth Hubbard) was one of the best actresses, hands down, to ever appear on a soap...
