Backstage on March 25, 1954 Esther Williams crosses her fingers for friend Donna Reed.  Esther presented Best Film Editing and her good wishes helped Donna win Best Supporting Actress for From Here to Eternity.

March 19, 1953 Shirley Booth accepts her Oscar for Come Back, Little Sheba.  She is in the NBC studios in New York for the first show to be held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York and the first to be televised.

Shirley was the first actress in her 50s to win Best Actress and the last person born in the 19th century (1898) to win in a lead role.

These are beautiful pictures Johnnyeager.  I especially like the one with Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.  They were truly beautiful women.

Yesterday evening was fantastic!  The Naked City and The Lost Weekend back to back.  Two intense, well played movies.

Given current events, it seems somewhat prophetic that TCM aired Judgment at Nuremberg yesterday.

Thanks for all the great Oscar alerts, @Johnnyeager !

That adorable candid picture of Donna Reed and Esther Williams is fab--  each of their personalities in that exciting, anticipatory moment for Reed, is coming through.
