TCM Private Screenings: Stanley Donen

[ Edited ]

Tonight TCM is showing a few Stanley Donen movies as a Memorial to him since he died on February 21, 2019. They first showed the interview Robert Osborne had with Stanley Donen from 2006.

I enjoyed watching it. Robert Osborne had such a comfortable style. It was like they were just two friends talking. And Stanley Donen was such a versatile Director. I did not realize he also paired up with Cary Grant and formed a production company, named Granden. And they also showed a charming clip of him accepting his only (I think) Academy Award.

there is no one like Robert Osborne. I'll never get over him.

I still have  movies on DVR that he introduced, like "The Way We Were"

@drizzellla, I missed the Stanley Donen interview.  He was such an accomplished director, and exemplified the exquisite taste and self-effacement that's so sadly lacking in Hollywood now.  Love that famously wry Oscar acceptance speech of his.

Can well imagine he and Robert Osborne would have a fascinating back and forth...
