Great film. Sets the standards for priests movies. And how about that Barry Fittzgerald?

Good film, but was hoping they'd show The Bells of St. Mary's after. I haven't seen it it in a long while.

Academy Award Oscar Trivia:

This was the first and only time a performer was nominated for the same role in the same film in two categories. 

Barry Fitzgerald's performance was nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor (which he won.)

Shortly thereafter the Academy adjusted its rules so that this can't happen again.

The ceremonies during the war years were fairly low key.  The Oscars during this period were plaster, due to metal shortages, but were covered with a bronze lacquer.
