Survivor kicks off season 42 with a two-hour premiere tonight! This was filmed right after season 41, so expect the same progressive messaging we saw in season 41 as they try to be ultra-socially conscious. No more "come on in guys" allowed. We must be pronoun neutral these days to avoid offending anyone as we nearly starve them to death on an island and have them compete against one another for survival to entertain us. (Come to think of it nearly starving people to death and having them compete against one another to amuse us doesn't sound all that socially conscious, but whatever.)
This is the last of the pre-taped CBS reality shows, so we'll find out in the not-too-distant future if CBS will stick with the script they're using now, or just let players play. Big Brother 24 will give us a better feel for where CBS will go moving forward. That should be the next CBS reality show that hits the airwaves.
So, we get a two-hour premiere tonight then back to the normal one-hour shows on Wednesdays going forward. I'm not sure Survivor is "must-see TV" these days but there's not a lot else on, so I'll give it a look.

I was truly disappointed last season. I'm not expecting much different this time. It was one of my very favorite shows and I've been watching since day one.
I'll give it a shot, but I'm not expecting to love it

I hope they get rid of those stupid clues where you have to say a specific phrase to activate the advantage.
Bring back the old Survivor without umpteen hidden immunity idols.

We haven't watched it in several years....it's just strategic moves and back biting

Agree and give CBS a thumbs down for it. Looked over the cast and wish it were a more accurate depiction of the country. The show was so much better in the beginning.

Hope it's better than last year. I don't remember if I even finished watching the whole season. I don't think I did.

I hope we don't have all the 'twists'. That made the game very annoying last season. But it did allow the winner to win . . .

I recently read that they'll be having a contestant who is male, but is transitioning to the female gender.
He/she still has male equipment, but also female breasts, I guess that's considered being "ultra-socially conscious"?
I'll bet that the other contestants have a big surprise coming....

Well, after reading this I'm out.
People can be what they want and do what they want but why do they feel it's necessary to publicize the fact and shove it down the throats of everyone else.

Zeke from Millennials vs. Gen X was transgender female to male. Jeff Varner outed him. I believe he played twice.
