They decided to do a version of an uncompleted book by Jane Austen. The title is Sanditon (one of the title created by Jane) Now because this was an unfinished, ITV developed a more "modern" approach. They always have with Jane Austen, as her books don't even show romantic kisses. But this TV version will have sex, nudity & a black character. (Auston created a character from the West Indies but never mentioned she was black) I mean there had to be sex. There were people walking around after all. But Jane fanatics are upset. Also the plot and ending. Jane only sketched out a plot with out an ending. And for all we know it might not be the typical Austen ending. This was produced by ITV. So a warning, PBS will cut it. Perhaps the nudity? We'll see.

As a devoted Austen fan, I hope people watch the show before being critical.

It was already shown in the UK. It's a 2 parter. There is a UK ITV DVD out already. Don't see an American version yet.
The first part of the show is all Austen. She had completed that part. The second half is the writers. Austin became very ill while writing this. And she was forced to stop. She had written 24,000 words and a rough sketch of the partial plot.
